For more than ten years, our roster of emerging artists and iconic clients has solidified Musicbed as a valuable creative partner when it comes to music licensing. We’ve placed songs in award-winning work for the likes of Nike, Apple, BMW, Mercedes, NBC and CW shows, Netflix originals, Super Bowl commercials and even movie trailers.
We’re taking the next step forward to serve our clients better than ever, while continuing to connect musicians and creatives. Today we’re excited to announce the official launch of our new TV/Film Division, appointing industry veteran Chris Lavarias to lead the charge as Musicbed’s Head of TV/Film.
“We are thrilled to welcome Chris to our team. His expertise and unique talent will no doubt help us elevate our capabilities, while continuing to build strong relationships across the music and television industry,” said Daniel McCarthy, Co-Founder and CEO of Musicbed. “Over the past few years, Musicbed has dipped its toe in TV/Film licenses, but this new division helps us put a stake in the ground. It’s a big step forward in realizing our vision to be the standard in music licensing.”
In this new role, Lavarias will be working collaboratively with music supervisors and trailer houses to meet their needs and expand Musicbed’s relationships within the industry. “I’m beyond thrilled to be a part of the Musicbed family,” said Chris Lavarias, Head of TV/Film at Musicbed. “I have the utmost respect and honor to be working alongside Daniel, the entire team, and the incredible artists on Musicbed’s roster. I’ve always been amazed at how the company has grown into a leader in the sync licensing world and look forward to building upon our success in the TV/Film space.”
Lavarias’ joins Musicbed from Score a Score, where he served as an Executive Producer. Prior to that, he held roles at Dangerbird Records as a Licensing Coordinator and Hidden Track Music as Director of Creative Licensing. During his time at Hidden Track Music, Lavarias pitched and secured placements for frontline electronics artists like Major Lazer (Peace Is the Mission), Flume (Skin, Best Dance/Electronic Album Winner, 2017 Grammy Awards), and Virtual Self, Porter Robinson’s alias (Ghost Voices, Best Dance/Electronic Recording, Nominee, 2019 Grammy Awards).
In addition, Lavarias secured notable early placements for breakout indie acts—CHVRCHES, HAIM, St. Lucia, Vance Joy, The Temper Trap, Gotye, and more— as well as for influential labels found all over world: Skrillex’s OWSLA/NEST, Tiesto’s Musical Freedom Records, Future Classic (AU), dance label Sweat It Out (AU), and French-Japanese imprint Maison Kitsuné.
